Abstract: In this talk we consider a 2-dimensional Schrödinger operator with magnetic field bounded and invariant along the y-axis, and electric potential V which decays at infinity. First we give an extension of some known results concerning the absolute continuity of the spectrum of the operator when V=0. After that we consider the problem of the number of eigenvalues in the gaps of the essential spectrum. Here we describe some effective Hamiltonians and use them to find asymptotic bounds to the number of eigenvalues when V is compactly supported.
